Event Details

All are welcome to join us for an evening of celebration to open ᑕᑯᒃᓴᐅᔪᒻᒪᕆᒃ Double Vision on July 12th. Experience the exhibition, enjoy refreshments, listen to music from Willie Thrasher and Linda Saddleback, and try an activity in Art Lab.

This exhibition profiles three ground‑breaking artists from Nunavut—Jessie Oonark and her daughters, Janet Kigusiuq and Victoria Mamnguqsualuk—and shines a light on a highly distinctive art form called nivinngajuliaat that developed out of government-sponsored craft programs in the Arctic.

Celebrating intergenerational learning and dialogue through textile art, ᑕᑯᒃᓴᐅᔪᒻᒪᕆᒃ Double Vision is the second exhibition through which Nanaimo Art Gallery asks the question: How can we work together? This exhibition will run from July 13th to September 15th at Nanaimo Art Gallery.
