Event Details
Participants will learn hands-on Japanese resist dye techniques called Shibori with a natural indigo dye vat. These resist forms include tied, bound and clamped: Kanoko, Kumo and Itajime. The patterns and shapes created using different Shibori techniques are all beautiful and endless! All participants will leave with a beautifully indigo-dyed organic cotton scarf (or 3 bandanas) and will learn about the alchemy and history of this magical natural plant dye. In learning these techniques, participants are encouraged to embrace the process over product – we will be creating in the Ukiyo, “the floating world.”
